More Meddling from Obama

A month ago I said this:

For the Democrats to move on and rebuild themselves into a credible party of opposition they need to distance themselves from the Obama era and his many of his policies, and carry along as many of his supporters as they can in the process. For as long as Obama is spouting off from the sidelines this will be very difficult to achieve, mainly because his supporters will listen to him rather than the Democrat Party.

Via Bayou Renaissance Man comes this Daily Mail article:

On Tuesday, former Attorney General Eric Holder revealed that Obama is indeed getting closer to making his public reappearance in politics.

‘It’s coming. He’s coming,’ Holder said speaking to reporters. ‘And he’s ready to roll.’

According to the family source, Obama was at first reluctant to assume the role of leader of the opposition.

‘No longer the most powerful man in the world, he was just observing Trump and not liking what he saw,’ said the source.

‘He was weary and burned out after eight years in office. But Valerie [Jarrett] convinced him that he didn’t have any choice if he wanted to save his legacy. And, as usual, he bowed to Valerie’s political wisdom and advice.’

Spurred on by Jarrett and Michelle, the ex-president has come to embrace his role as the leader of the opposition against Trump, whose policies he loathes and whose presidency he considers illegitimate.

‘He is going to use his immense popularity with the half of the country that identifies as liberals and progressives,’ said the Obama family source. ‘Millions of Americans are energized and ready to take to the streets to oppose Trump, but they need to be organized and have their anger focused and directed.

It’s all a bit third world, isn’t it? The former President spouting off from the sidelines, desperate to save his “legacy”, and believing the country can’t possibly function without his input. If the Democrats don’t get a grip on him soon, it’ll be difficult to know what role they serve (other than peddling rumours about Trump and Russia).

And speaking of the third world:

Michelle hired Los Angeles-based interior designer Michel S. Smith, who designed several rooms in The White House during their residence, to decorate the Kalorama home. Smith will also decorate the Obama’s new home in Rancho Mirage, California.

The friend said that Valerie and her signature enormous totes are going to be packed and ready to go for shopping sprees with Michelle from their native Chicago to Paris and the Far East, including Shanghai.

‘They feel like they have had some great trips while in the White House, but were always working and being herded around,’ said the source. ‘Now they are planning to travel together – home to Chicago, to Paris and Shanghai, and shop to their heart’s content.

‘The Obamas both love the Kalorama house and are making it their own,’ continued the source. ‘They have plans to build a pool on the grounds. And they are almost certainly going to wind up buying the house from Lockart in the next few years.

‘They are also planning to have a house in Hawaii, as well as in Chicago, where the Obama Presidential Library will be built. But Kalorama, where the Washington action takes place, is going to be home base.’

Although one would expect a former US President to be richer than most, purchasing prime real estate and jetting around the world on shopping sprees might raise a few question as to where this money came from. When the world’s media praised the Michelle Obama for “showing grace”, I didn’t realise they were referring to Grace Mugabe.

  1. “from their native Chicago”: what, I thought the question was whether he was born on Hawaii, in Kenya, in Seattle. I’ve never seen Chicago on the list.

P.S. He was born on Hawaii, betcha!

  2. I always had the impression that Obama appeared every 2-3 months, presented briefly to us his sagacity of the moment, and then disappeared for another 2-3 months introspection on the next moment of deep intellectual (but usually highly impractical) sagacity.

While it’s surely useful to have one or two people like that around (assuming they really are sages – I have my doubts with Obama), it’s not a way to lead anything, let alone a political party.

  3. I always got the impression that Obumble wasn’t that interested in the job as president. Someone once said the only time he ever got animated was when he was discussing basketball. Politics and international relations in particular didn’t interest him, however much he loved the speechifying and campaigning. Speeches however required a working teleprompter: the world’s greatest orator according to lefties was hopeless without one.

But I can see why he is stepping out of the gloom. Unlike most former presidents he doesn’t really have anything much behind him and still has lots of fawning sycophants in the media and show business to pump him up. Plus, Killary’s uselessness has left a big hole in the Demorat world. Why not have Obumble back to the fold, especially as he can better try to protect his legacy of coming up with a disastrous health care system and imbue numerous dictators around the world with fresh hope?

  4. Two thoughts.

    (i) It’s always a mistake to elect (or allow) to the top job, someone who is not quite old.

(ii) Does this mean Obama is planning to run in the 2020 USA presidential election? Consequences?

    Best regards

  5. One of the things I liked about the US was the fact that former presidents or failed candidates would disappear from view. Dignified at least.

So Obama is proving once more that he is without any class whatsoever.

  6. “the fact that former presidents or failed candidates would disappear from view”: but was it so in the early days of the Republic?

  7. @Nigel Sedgewick: Obama to run in 2020 is an interesting thought, but I would imagine the better bet is stirring the pot to try to elect Michelle.

  8. “It’s all a bit third world, isn’t it? ”

Not a bit, it’s pure, A grade, third world, deposed kleptocract stuff. Plotting the return from the palace in exile, surrounded by all your henchmen and flunkies.

“I always got the impression that Obumble wasn’t that interested in the job as president.”

The impression I always got was that it was actually beneath him and he deserved better.

  10. “So, Obama rejoins the campaign to re-elect President Trump.”

Hush! Never interrupt an enemy when he’s making a mistake.

  11. I see it playing out more as a Roman type tragedy rather than a third world one with Obama fiddling to his army of followers from less than two miles away from the White House as Rome burns rather than mere meddling.

Yes, a basic CID check would reveal that it would be impossible for the Obamas to have acquired the wealth that they have through his meagre wage and lifetime pension as the US President. He only pulls about a tenner a week more before tax than the Aussie PM and any C level executive in Australia worth their salt just wouldn’t get out of bed for that type of coin, never mind the mightier US.

Trump certainly has had some setbacks since taking office the biggest of which was his massive cave in to China on the One China Policy, Trump really fucked up here, broke all of his negotiating rules and the Chinese’s will see this quite rightfully as a major victory in their relentless waging of their very effective three war campaign against America. If Trump had been an Apprentice he would have been fired for this monumental and face losing back flip. So the plot now thickens with the US warship steaming towards the South China Sea and we also have the Saker, the globalist disinfo guy saying that it is over for Trump, adding belief to the script for the tragedy.

The next big milestone will be the draft US strategy on ISIS coming on line round about the Ides of March. If it calls for US boots on ground in some unfortunate part of the world, something that Trump might oppose and thus be seen to be weak towards Russia. The globalists weren’t happy that the lost the battle in Syria and they still intend to win the war.

If so and they do get him, then it’s Hail Pence.

Overall the main objective remains the same, bring the UN to brink, with a UN Security council member getting a bloody nose to pave the way for the newly empowered and revitalised pro Eastern UN.

“Over two-thousand years ago in ancient Rome, Julius Caesar faced a Roman Republic in serious decline. The economy was in shambles; Rome’s enemies were gaining strength, while a corrupt establishment wallowed in excess privilege as the average Roman citizen suffered economically.

Sound familiar? The more things change, the more they remain the same.”
