White Sun of the Desert is my personal blog, which takes its name from the English translation of the famous 1970 Soviet film Beloe Solntse Pustyni. The contents of this blog are my own personal views and don’t represent those of my employer or anyone else.

I was born in 1977 and grew up just outside Pembroke in south-west Wales. Between 1996 and 2000 I studied Mechanical Engineering at the University of Manchester. In 2003 I was offered the opportunity of 5 weeks work in Oman, which I took and never came home. Since then I lived in Kuwait, UAE, Russia, Thailand, Nigeria, Australia, and France working in the oil and gas industry, before quitting to study for an MBA in Geneva.

I speak French and Russian, play and sing bluegrass on the guitar and banjo, practice photography, watch obscure films, read books, ski, hike, and watch football, rugby, and cricket on TV.

In January 2018 I self-published my first novel Window on a Burning Man, and am currently writing another. In October 2018 I launched my podcast (available on iTunes here).
