Size Matters

I found this interesting:

The owners of porn streaming site Pornhub are profiting from “revenge porn” and failing to remove videos once reported, BBC News has been told.

One woman, “Sophie”, said she felt “violated” after a video featuring her was viewed hundreds of thousands of times when it was uploaded online.

Campaign group #NotYourPorn said such content allowed Pornhub owners MindGeek to make greater advertising revenues.

And not for the reasons you filthy-minded people are thinking. Tsk!

Back when The Economist was written by experienced adults rather than noodle-armed hipsters called Jeremy, they ran a decent article on the perils of being number one in any industry. They pointed to McDonald’s being the poster child for all complaints about junk food, while Burger King was barely mentioned. Coca-Cola would get bad press about everything from brainwashing kids to murders in Latin America, but few such claims were made against Pepsi. Environmental campaigns in the US tend to focus on ExxonMobil rather than Chevron, just as Shell seems to be the main target for European protesters. When politicians and campaigners are on a supermarket bashing spree in the US, it’s always Wal-Mart which gets singled out, never Publix. The article listed several examples and said that on occasion it pays to be number two.

There are probably at least half a dozen giant porn sites out there, but Pornhub is the biggest and best known, so that’s why it’s been singled out here. I confess I had to do several weeks of selfless research to bring you this information (ahem), but most porn clips are not exclusive to one site. In other words, this particular piece of revenge porn would have been shared across dozens of sites, many of whom would not take the approach of Pornhub:

Pornhub said it “strongly condemns” revenge porn.

It added it had “the most progressive anti-revenge-porn policy in the industry”.

Revenge porn is pretty disgusting, to be honest. I know a young woman who split from some shithead of a boyfriend and he started posting videos of her all over the internet, and contacting people on her social media accounts. She had to go into hiding while her brother-in-law trawled the internet finding where they were hosted and asking for them to be removed. Of course, it is monumentally stupid for a young woman to allow her boyfriend to video her during sex, but young people do daft things, are easily manipulated, and nowadays everyone walks around with an HD video camera in their pocket.

So while Pornhub is coming in for some flack here, at least they appear to be doing what they can to avoid hosting revenge porn; I expect lesser-known sites are quite happy to do so. So why am I sticking up for Pornhub here? Well, as I explained before, one day we’ll all be on Pornhub as it’ll be the only free speech platform left.

“I’m on there for the message boards, honestly!”

  1. “nowadays everyone walks around with an HD video camera in their pocket.”

Anyone who keeps their jacket on during sex is no gentleman.

  2. Anyone who keeps their jacket on during sex is no gentleman.

    Don’t gimp suits have pockets?

  3. Pornhub is already trying to get woke. I just saw a tweet recently where they will plant a tree for every 100 videos watched. The comments were glorious. Examples:

“Did Canada and Russia agree to this? They’re the only two places that can hold that many trees.”

“Just doing my part to help the environment.”

“With all the extra tissue used for this effort, won’t the results just be a wash?”

Surely with modern technology anyone who want to film sex with their girlfriend without permission can by using hidden cameras? I haven’t researched this because I haven’t the time but I am sure it is possible.

Yes, but that’s evidence of malice aforethought and lack of consent. Copies of a sex tape could have been leaked by anybody who got their hands on one’s phone, or hacked one’s iCloud account, etc.,etc. At least that’s the common excuse, which is why revenge porn is so hard to prosecute.

The real solution is to stop listening to stupid, narcissistic women and go back to slut-shaming. We tend to forget that every single human society has evolved such that its sexual mores are enforced by women against other women, largely for their own collective good. The patriarchy don’t enter into it.

The feminists are trying hard to put women’s sexual freedom back in the box – they’ve already put an end to the tits on Page 3, pit girls and other promotional type employment are dying out because of feminist pressure, they’re starting to target strippers too. Give them another decade and they’ll be indistinguishable from Mary Whitehouse.

Ohh-ho-ho-ho, there are more. I mean, there are probably more.

  8. The above thing also changes how people think in terms of “big business”. Like I prefer working in smaller businesses by the nature of my job. But if I had a choice between flipping burgers at McDonalds or at some local business, I’d go for McDonalds. Because they do everything according to the law and by the book. You won’t get abused working for McDonalds. They’re also far more nurturing of staff than your average local cafe in terms of training people.

You know the only thing worse for a silly woman than having the revenge porn video of her in flagrante delicto watched hundreds of thousands of times? How about — Not having it watched at all?

How does a poor woman hold up her head at the next Girls’ Night Out, when “Sophie” is complaining that armies of men have watched her doing the dirty, while “Joanie” knows that only ten guys could be bothered viewing the revenge porn sex tape of her? And then downvoted it!

  10. The real solution is to stop listening to stupid, narcissistic women and go back to slut-shaming.

Yep. Stupid is as stupid does. I have no sympathy for these sluts (assuming they agreed to be filmed).

Very tired of the “poor stupid women suffered consequences of her own stupidity! We should all leap to her defense!” nonsense that I see everywhere nowadays.

  11. Pornhub […] will plant a tree for every 100 videos watched.

Well, I would remind the assembled congregation and others that paper tissues are made from wood pulp. Growing more trees to replace the paper tissues used during the viewing of the videos is environmentally friendly, so there is that, I suppose … Ahem! >};o)

Actually, when Youtube got stroppy about any videos about hunting, firearms and firearms related stuff and started to de-monetise them and delete them, there was a discussion among the channel owners that they would use Pornhub to post the videos as it was indeed the most permissive channel available that did not give a flying stuff about what was posted.

Instead, Full30.com was set up and became an alternative channel to post firearms related material.

Life can get a bit surreal in the early 21st century, woke, SJW information age, eh?

  12. Very soon, all men will insist on having video evidence of ALL sexual encounters just in case their partners decided later to press charges.
