The BBC on Beslan

From the BBC:

Beslan school siege: Russia ‘failed to prevent’ massacre

Given a massacre happened, I’d say so, yes.

In the siege, Chechen separatists took more than 1,000 hostages, the vast majority of them children.

It ended when Russian security forces stormed the building. Survivors say the troops used excessive force.

In all seriousness, and acknowledging that the siege would have been an enormous challenge for even the world’s most proficient counter-terrorism force, the Russian response was absolutely shambolic in the most woeful sense of the word. It made Nord-Ost look like Operation Entebbe.

And this:

Presumably the chap who does the bylines is Irish.

  1. Now you have to tell me whether you selected your quotations to highlight the Beeb’s attitude that the murderers were just “separatists” rather than Moslem terrorists.

    Anyway, here’s my latest wheeze for the Beeb. Every time it refers to the Crusades (the ones to Palestine I mean) it must call the murderous thugs ‘Christianists’.

    S’only fair.

    Heh no, I missed that.

  3. We could have some fun here:

    Russia failed to prevent Beslan;
    London failed to prevent Brexit;
    United States failed to prevent 9/11;
    China failed to prevent mass murder under Mao;
    Germany failed to prevent two world wars;
    The UN failed to prevent the rise of islamic power;
    The EU failed to prevent mass immigration;
    The BBC failed to prevent their journalists telling lies to viewers and listeners;

    and last but not least,
    Dinosaur mummies and daddies failed to prevent the extinction of baby dinosaurs

  4. I think it was in an article on Beslan that the BBC referred to them as ‘activists’, even though they were shooting children in the head.

    ‘Activists’ are people who put annoying election literature through your letterbox at election time.

    Oh yeah, they have form in this area.
