I don’t like to keep praising Putin, but…

…I’m rather glad an adult has entered the room:

Russian President Vladimir Putin has ruled out a tit-for-tat response after the US expelled 35 Russian diplomats amid a row over hacking.

He said Russia would not “stoop” to the level of “irresponsible diplomacy” but would work to restore ties with the US under President-elect Donald Trump.

What was Michelle Obama’s recent remark?  That the White House needs a grown-up in charge?

Well, not long to go now, Michelle.

  1. This is going to be fun – The Putin & Trump Show!

Obama is seeming increasingly like a petulant child denied some candy.

  2. Hail Putin,

Aside from the above cool move which has to be staged there were some other very revealing indications of his leadership aims and views on morals straight from the horses mouth at his recent Christmas press conference. Whilst Trump has expressed his support for Christianity, Putin is emerging as the modern day religious Tsar of the Christians and a strong supporter of the Jewish faith for that matter as well.

“Many Western states have taken the way where they deny or reject their own roots, including their Christian roots which form the basis of Western civilization. In these countries, the moral basis and any traditional identity are being denied – national, religious, cultural and even gender identities are being denied or relativized.”

This is quite a significant statement on his position as the emerging number one political leader of the world’s Christians.

Then this clear shot at the current format of the UN with a god like warning against its aspirations.

“At the same time as this process at a national level in the West, we observe on an international level the attempts to create a unipolar, unified model of the world, to relativize and remove institutions of international right and national sovereignty.

“In such a unified, unipolar world there is no place for sovereign states. Such a world needs merely vassals.

“From a historical perspective, such a unipolar world would mean the surrender of one’s own identity and of God-created diversity.”

  3. I imagine Putin would enjoy nothing more than an irreconcilable and ungovernable United States.

It is profoundly troubling that so many Dem activists and much of the English-speaking commentariat are trying so hard to bring that about.

  4. BTW, I’ve become an enthusiastic follower here this year. I look forward to many reliably independent-minded and articulate posts in 2017.

All the best for the New Year!

  5. I am hearing statements coming form the mouths of some of my Jewish friends that are making it clear that they don’t like Obama. Sometimes they seem almost surprised that these statements are coming from their mouths.

  6. There is probably little doubt Putin is really only interested in his own nation and people, but that’s fair enough.

This attitude can be contrasted however with many western ‘leaders’ who seem to only care about the murderous, uncivilised and thoroughly un-christian rabble of some other small, sh*t-hole of a country and who thus don’t give damn about their own people.

On this simple analysis, I’d vote for Putin.

  7. This is quite a significant statement on his position as the emerging number one political leader of the world’s Christians.

Indeed, when you have European churchmen and churchwomen abandoning Christian principles and telling their flocks to welcome Muslims, and politicians and idiots like Prince Charles doing likewise, such leadership will fall to whoever picks up the mantle.

  8. There is probably little doubt Putin is really only interested in his own nation and people, but that’s fair enough.

I think he’s interested in himself and his close mates, but at least he makes the effort to give the impression he’s interested in Russia and Russians, which is more than our lot do.
