What doesn’t work on Corbyn also doesn’t work on Trump

Following on from the failed efforts to shame Corbyn, I present to you this:

Trump’s opponents believe if they keep throwing out revelations about his womanising past, the voters will wake up and realise they’ve elected a sleazeball. They’re as deluded as the people who think front pages of The Sun detailing Corbyn’s friendships with Communists and terrorists will make a difference to his poll standings.

Ever since I can remember, long before he became involved in politics and even before he hosted The Apprentice, Donald Trump had a reputation as being a womanising New York billionnaire playboy with a preference for east European models whom he’d marry and then cheat on. There are pictures of him in the early nineties at parties with Jack Nicholson and Warren Beatty with women hanging around them like flies. His reputation was well known before he ran for president, which is why the Access Hollywood tapes didn’t do as much damage as his opponents hoped.

It’s not that the voters didn’t know about this side of Trump’s character, they just didn’t care about it enough to stop them voting for him. Pointing out the same thing over and over in the hope that people will suddenly change their mind will never work, and this as true for Trump as it is Corbyn. Like the Conservatives, the Democrats have the answer to Trump staring them right in the face: don’t be insane. Like their British counterparts, they can’t seem to grasp the solution either.

  1. He is an absurd oaf. But the Dems ran a much worse human being against him and deservedly lost. That’s all.

Well, all except to say that for the party of JFK, LBJ, and Slick Willie to complain about someone else’s womanising is a bit thick.

  2. For an absurd oaf, he’s sure as hell doing an incredible job not just pursuing his agenda in the face of unfathomable resistance, but destroying his enemies’ credibility in the process.

I do find it interesting that the lunatic Left loves to idolize people like Teddy Roosevelt and Nikola Tesla for their personal quirks, despite Trump being staid and statesmanlike by comparison.

  3. I’m pretty sure this is all a giant conspiracy:

    1. Find out about Trump’s affair.
    2. Throw some repellent left-wingers under the bus by leaking their depravity to an independent journalist.
    3. Let the right climb atop their high horse.
    4. Leak Trump’s affair to the same journalist, so that the right can’t assault his credibility, and therefore the story will stand.
    5. Trump is finally disgraced enough to negate his being elected, and Hilary is crowned Queen in a lavish ceremony at Bohemian Grove. Thirteen children are sacrificed in her honour and she reigns for a thousand years.

  4. I’m sure I speak for every sentient being when I express overwhelming excitement at the prospect of Anderson Cooper interviewing a panel of other CNN employees on what this latest revelation means for 3 hours a night for the next fortnight.

  5. The truth here is that Corbyn creates more than enough opportunities to be attacked almost daily without bothering with any of his past deeds.

  6. I think a fundamental difference is that the US DNC palace guard media are being massively hypocritical by clutching their pearls over Trump’s sexual pecadilloes whereas they positively lionise Clinton, LBJ, JFK etc. who were every bit as bad or even worse.

In terms of Corbyn, the media and the Tories don’t have a history of lionising IRA / Communist supporters.

And the result is there – LAB / CON are running about 40 / 40 in the polls, when any faceless NuLab drone would have pushed CON down by 10-15 points.

Yes, these revelations don’t bother his core support one way or another, buy my god they scare the property-owning middle classes into propping the Useless Schoolmarm up in the polls.

    True, true.
