{"id":8917,"date":"2019-01-16T08:00:27","date_gmt":"2019-01-16T07:00:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.desertsun.co.uk\/blog\/?p=8917"},"modified":"2019-01-15T09:50:41","modified_gmt":"2019-01-15T08:50:41","slug":"hidden-figures","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.desertsun.co.uk\/blog\/8917\/","title":{"rendered":"Hidden Figures"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In the comments under my <a href=\"https:\/\/www.desertsun.co.uk\/blog\/8906\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">latest podcast<\/a> on the subject of sexual promiscuity, Jim makes an interesting point:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>I would suggest that in hard numbers a man in later life will still be viewed better by women for X previous partners than a woman would be by men for the same number, assuming a similar quality of partners on both sides.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>This is true, and it explains why <a href=\"http:\/\/www.returnofkings.com\/76042\/scientific-research-confirms-that-women-lie-about-their-sexual-history\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">women lie<\/a> about the numbers. Recall that my podcast was prompted by this tweet:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-lang=\"en\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">It is not \u201cuniversally recognized\u201d by men that women who\u2019ve had more sex partners are \u201cless valuable\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>It is, however, archaic, sexist, and utterly demeaning to treat women as if their sexual experiences determine their worth. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/4qT7fijE1i\">https:\/\/t.co\/4qT7fijE1i<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 MarleneJ (@mjaeckel) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/mjaeckel\/status\/1082333779002380288?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 7, 2019<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><br \/>\nIf women didn&#8217;t think their value in the dating marketplace was devalued by the number of partners they&#8217;d had, there would be no reason for them to lie about it. Sure, men lie too, but mainly to inflate the numbers. Then when they settle down and their partner asks them, they deflate the number to avoid looking like a complete fanny-rat.<\/p>\n<p>However, both men and women lie about this stuff in part to avoid hurting the feelings of someone they care about. This is why sensible women who have enjoyed themselves at college learn to shut the f*** up, or lie when asked. A point I made in my book is the truth often doesn&#8217;t matter as much as how it&#8217;s presented. Most blokes these days know they&#8217;re not marrying virgins, but they&#8217;d prefer their partner applies some discretion and not mention their sexual history, and the same goes for the man. By being tactful, it&#8217;s a sign one partner respects the other and doesn&#8217;t want to hurt them unnecessarily.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, modern feminism decrees a woman should openly brag about her promiscuity. Not only does this put potential suitors off for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.desertsun.co.uk\/blog\/8906\/#comment-436646\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">crude biological reasons<\/a>, it&#8217;s also a sign she doesn&#8217;t respect her partner nor care much for his feelings. Put simply, having several sexual partners doesn&#8217;t in itself devalue a woman, but it does if the bloke gets to hear about it.
