Weren’t we all told that Donald Trump was “openly racist<\/a>” and has “uncontrollable fits of rage over perceived slights<\/a>“?<\/p>\n

Yes, we were.<\/p>\n

So what’s all this<\/a>, then?<\/p>\n

Donald Trump has named South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley as US ambassador to the UN, US media report.<\/p>\n

She is the first non-white female cabinet-level official appointed within the Trump administration.<\/p>\n

Mrs Haley is the daughter of Indian immigrants and had been a vocal critic of Mr Trump on the campaign trail.<\/p>\n

Mrs Haley endorsed Florida Senator Marco Rubio during the Republican primaries, later throwing her support behind Senator Ted Cruz – Mr Trump’s final rival before he became the party’s nominee.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

I guess we’ve been told shite.<\/p>\n

This is also worth mentioning:<\/p>\n

The Indian-American, who is in her second and final term as governor, was elected in 2010, riding the wave of the Republican Tea Party with the support of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin.<\/p>\n

Prior to becoming the state’s chief executive, she served six years as a member of the state’s House of Representatives.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Whereas the current US ambassador to the UN:<\/p>\n

is a Harvard academic, a former war correspondent and a Pulitzer Prize-winning author.<\/p>\n

As a journalist she reported from places like Bosnia, Kosovo, Rwanda, Sudan and Zimbabwe and tried to get officials to pay attention to human rights issues.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

I guess she was appointed in the days before “experience” and “qualified” became words bandied about by the Democrats.<\/p>\n

President Barack Obama announced her nomination by describing her as one of America’s “foremost thinkers on foreign policy”.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
