Omar Badly

She’s at it again:

Stephen Miller happens to be Jewish, but that matters little to the Somali congresswoman: he’s still a white nationalist.

The alt-right barely exists outside of 4chan and Gab these days, but its members never went away nor did their concerns. A little closer to the political centre are those who call themselves the dissident right, and closer again are a large number of conservatives and right wingers who’ve spent a decade or two looking for a political home. The fact all these people voted for Trump shows they weren’t too fussy about who took charge provided it wasn’t another production-line politician like Hillary Clinton or Jeb Bush.

Something someone said recently was that any new political movement on the right must have a positive message; it can’t just be a laundry list of complaints. The way identity politics is shaping the political landscape in America, particularly how being openly racist is perfectly acceptable for certain groups, it’s a matter of time before someone competent joins the dots and makes white nationalism the rallying call for those on the right who feel disenfranchised. This won’t happen for a while because attitudes in America aren’t quite ready for that yet, but the ground is being prepared and it’s being done so by the left.

For a start, the epithet of white nationalism is fast losing its association with prison gangs and cranks thanks to Ilhar Oman and her chums using it to describe normal people on an everyday basis. We also know that people are used to being told they voted for white nationalism because that’s all they’ve heard since Trump was elected. We know the left and the media will scream blue murder if a candidate runs on a white nationalist platform, but they do that if a Republican runs on a moderate platform. We know the political establishment will mount a coup against any such candidate because they already tried that with Trump. If America’s ruling classes are going to have a meltdown and denounce every mildly right wing candidate as a white nationalist, what defences do they have against a real white nationalist? Are they even going to be able to tell the difference?

America has been fortunate so far that white nationalists have tended to be grossly incompetent. This is because there’s been no future in subscribing to it, it’s a dead-end losers’ game. But if Somalis in headscarves are going to spend their time denouncing white people from congress, while at the same time you have a tens of millions of disenfranchised right wingers who happen to be white, an avenue of opportunity might open up. And then instead of the bunglers some competent people arrive on the scene who’ve carefully observed how the ruling classes behave, know how to evade their counterattacks, and form a movement which suddenly becomes too big to shut down. And then the fun really begins.

The Democratic primaries and 2020 presidential election are going to be interesting in this regard. I expect both will become a battle of escalating identity politics where straight, white, men are insulted, abused, and denounced for being all three. Not only has America been fortunate that white nationalists have been incompetent, but also that white Americans don’t see themselves as defined by their skin colour. The left are pushing them harder and harder to do so. Personally I don’t think it’s a hard sell especially in current economic and demographic conditions, and once that seed is planted the promotional material and campaigns write themselves. Would white Americans rather be ruled by white nationalists or Somalis in headscarves who hate them? If things carry on like this, that will be the choice inside many people’s heads.

Ilhar Omar might end up only serving one term in congress, but she could influence American politics to a degree disproportionate to both her position and intellect. Serious countries would never have let things even get this far.

  1. Just as the UK’s ludicrous Brexit process has provided a wonderful teaching example for any other EU country who has any ambitions to leave (ie what not to do, what to do, what the response of the Commission will be, etc etc) so has Trump’s Presidency for right wing presidential candidates. And chances are that eventually a rather nasty one will come along, and use all the lessons to end up in the White House.

  2. I have quite a large American family who have by and large been moderately conservative over the years. To my surprise they all voted Trump and have become quite vocal in his support since the election and definitely seem to be drifting quickly towards the right. The latest bunch of dems are going to hasten the process as they have completely misread the lessons of the past election and insist in indulging in dangerous/fantasy projections of a ‘new’ America when quite a bit of the ‘old’ America is still very much alive and kicking, its going to be interesting.

  3. The left wing would be delighted if proper White Nationalists get themselves organised and make a bid for serious exclusive power in the US, thereby sparking a full-blown race war. That’s just part of the narrative, isn’t it? Slave-owning racist capitalists set up a fundamentally unstable means of exploiting the proletariat, and the USA is born. The oppressed people organise, and there are landmark battles where the yoke is partially removed: emancipation of slaves, civil rights movement, some labour gains, various waves of feminism, the indigenous people’s movement, and latterly the abolition of national borders. White supremacy, ushered in by Trump, represents the final desperate struggle of white men to maintain control. The destruction of a country and a culture and a world peacekeeper is a small price to pay for being on the right side of history, isn’t it?

They would initially, yes. How long that euphoria would last is open to question.

  5. I’m not sure why you’d speak of America being lucky that WN have been incompetent. The fact that America is in the mess that it’s in, culturally and demographically (with things set to get much worse when Whites become a dwindling minority) is because the country lost sight of its original White origins. It essentially was a WN country up until the 1960s and the Hart-Celler act.
Anyone who thinks that America (or any other country where White people are either indigenous or the founding stock) can survive in any meaningful way without Whites as an absolute majority, and unapologetically dominant, is kidding themself.

Also, if WN is nasty, then, from my perspective as a White man, it is far less nasty than the direction we’re currently going in, which has already brought about intolerable changes and is only set to get worse.

  6. I’m not sure why you’d speak of America being lucky that WN have been incompetent.

Because I’d generally prefer countries aren’t governed along racial lines and for a while Europe, Australia, and North America seemed to be doing a reasonable job of not doing so. I think America has been lucky their white nationalists have been incompetent, because if a change is forced upon them by minorities it is one thing, but if whites are the catalysts for the change it’s something else entirely.

  7. A change *is* being forced upon us (us being those in what for brevity I’ll refer to as White nations), and that change has been clearly occurring and clearly harmful for a long time.
I’ve been reading you for a while and you’re clearly a nice guy (as am I) but the other side isn’t nice, nor will be the consequences for our nations if this is allowed to continue.
I’ve seen your comments at other blogs, so I know you’re familiar with the thinking of those who are further towards what we consider to be the right.

The future is bleak for us unless we allow people who aren’t nice guys like you and I to take hold of the reins. It needn’t be nasty and brutal, though, but if it isn’t done then nasty and brutal is what the future will be. Personally, I’d rather that my group were on the winning side.

  8. A change *is* being forced upon us

Oh, I know. So whatever happens next, it wasn’t my side which started it.

  9. Matt is quite right.

Omar Bradley, if she is a US citizen surely had to take an oath, “renouncing all foreign princes and potentates etc”.

She might (for now) be following the letter of that but I doubt very much if she does so in spirit.

Let us look at what we as white people are being told: That we are basically a plague; that we have no culture; that everything we have achieved we have stolen; that the underachievement of anybody who is not white (orientals – “asians” in American parlance – excepted generally as they have the highest IQs of all, they have to be invisible) wherever in the world they may be; we owe everybody everything and have no rights to anything, not even the ancestral homelands we have been in for millennia.

Am I actually exaggerating? I’ve heard all these things from mainstream “commentator” in this country.

In one of your earlier threads (the Idris Elba Bond one I think) a comment was made the we have imported US racial concerns. Well we have certainly imported US style race hustling.

I used to laugh at this sort of deluded arse dribble, but I stopped a few years ago. I take these people seriously. I can’t see how I can do otherwise.

I don’t see that the situation in this country, or Europe generally is irrecoverable (not sure about the US. Z man doesn’t appear too optimistic, but then he does live in Baltimore). Regarding the US, not got a lot of direct knowledge but the real elephant in the room seems to be Hispanics, who I really don’t get. Are there “hispanics” in Spain? Do the poor areas of Madrid have the same sort of gangs as Los Angeles?).

I don’t know if we need nasty types yet but we do need more strident rebuttals. I can’t see this happening really, so perhaps nasty types it may be in 10 or 20 years. When these nasty types do appear, the race hustlers – who will still be very much minorities – are very naive if they expect nice white people to come to their aid

  10. The thread under the Ilhan Omar tweet is interesting. A lot of people are pointing out that Stephen Miller’s family rejected him. But no one is pointing out that David Duke supports Ilhan Omar.

  11. “Regarding the US, not got a lot of direct knowledge but the real elephant in the room seems to be Hispanics, who I really don’t get. Are there “hispanics” in Spain? Do the poor areas of Madrid have the same sort of gangs as Los Angeles?).”

The majority of Hispanics pouring over the southern border of the US, and making up the gangs in Los Angeles and elsewhere, are only partially related (at most) to Spaniards.

I agree with everything you said. Omar represents just the beginning of her particular group’s contribution to identity politics in America. We’ve already seen her type in Britain. Expect more to come. Much more. All over the Western world.

What we’re seeing is the inevitable conflict you get when different groups exist within the same territory – supercharged by a specifically engineered form of anti-white animosity.

  12. “The thread under the Ilhan Omar tweet is interesting. A lot of people are pointing out that Stephen Miller’s family rejected him. But no one is pointing out that David Duke supports Ilhan Omar.”

That’s illuminating. So Miller’s family rejected him for not being sufficiently hostile to the interests of the White majority, while Duke supports Omar for being hostile to the group of which Miller’s family are a part. It’s all very predictable and, sadly, understandable.

  13. Omar is ignorant for calling Stephen Miller a white nationalist – 10 Apr 2019

. ” American Islamic Forum for Democracy’s Zudhi Jasser says White House advisor Stephen Miller being labeled a white nationalist by Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) demonstrates that the Democratic far-left are unhinged and engage in collectivism.”

  14. OT I wonder why you haven’t picked up on the biggest story this week which appears to me to be within your ambit as a voice against anti-straight-white-male bigotry.
